New Drink

I've read a few different blogs that have talked about drinking a 'Monster'... This protein-packed drink that is really green and does NOT look tasty. None-the-less, I wanted to try it. Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point mentioned it again in her blog post 'Worth it' so I decided to try it today. I didn't have the green-food based protein powder she mentions, so I made my own little version.

In the cup...
1 whole banana, sliced
1 cup spinach leaves
1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup raw oats
5 large ice cubes

Blend... and... she's right - it really does taste good. It tastes MUCH better than it looks!!! Try it and let me know what you think!

Insanity 8/60 and a new friend

Yesterday was the easiest day so far on Insanity... Lol, it was our rest day. I mastered that one like a CHAMP! I'm excited to see how the next 52 days go and if I can keep up with these crazy people!

Today I got an email from the manager at our fitness center. She is going to start doing a "Member of the Month" and asked me to be her first! I'm honored ;)

I have a new friend! My Garmin 405 went for a run with me for the first time today. I thought I had it all figured out before I went on my run and then I was confused. Tonight when I got home I paired it up with the computer and played around on it a little more. I think next time I'll be better prepared. When I got online to sync my workout, I was so excited at all of the stuff you can see... it maps where you ran, shows all your stats and there's even an option to see if there are other people running around you anywhere. That option you have to allow or deny access to. It's still pretty neat. I'm glad  I got my Christmas gift early and can use it outside!

What's on your Christmas list this year?

Insanity 3/60

Today was Cardio Power and resistance... I felt it a little more in my knee today than yesterday so I had to stop and put my knee brace on. Does anyone know some good knee strengthening exercises I can do????

I was BEAT when we got home tonight and didn't feel like working out. I just wanted to crawl in bed and go go sleep. I stuck to it though (who quits on day 3?!?) and am glad I did! When I started P90X last year, I could barely do 2 pushups. Today, I kept up with the group on Insanity when they did theirs! Woo-Hoo.

I did a little running today and it felt great - I was on the dreadmill though and wish I had been outside. I really need to invest in some warmer clothes so I can run outside!

Happy exercising!

Insanity 2/60

Okay WOW!!! Insanity is a great name for this and I'm only on day 2. My goal is to be able to keep up with them through an entire video by the end of the 60 days!

Today was Plyometric Cardio Circuit. I really like the ab in and outs. I haven't been able to do these since before I hurt my knee two years ago. I feel like since I can start at my own pace, it gives me the change to concentrate on my form and I was actually able to do a few. YAY me! There were a few yoga moves in todays video but I wonder if any of the other videos have more stretching/poses in them?!? Perhaps that's the recovery week in the middle "Core cardio and balance".

I'm looking forward to tomorrow - Cardio Power & Resistance.

Insanity 1/60

I started Insanity today with the fit test. I can tell it's going to be an intense 60 days!!! I was excited though because the people said how many reps they were able to do their first time, and on a few of them, I did more reps than they did on their first try =o) Staying in shape is a great thing!

On another note, I got out and ran 2 miles today... it's been almost a week since I logged some miles since my tailbone was hurting me. I'm so glad I was able to get out and run! When I got home, I was greeted with an early Christmas present. Unfortunately I couldn't use it today because it has to be charged for 3 hours. I'm SOOOOOOO excited!

Insanity

Today starts 60 days of Insanity. Before Chad and I were married, we did P90X and I really enjoyed it. Since then I’ve been debating which series I wanted to try. Insanity won. Today is just a fitness assessment video. I hope the assessment isn’t difficult; otherwise it’s going to be a LONG 60 days!

On another note, I may or may not be getting this pretty little puppy for Christmas. I'm really excited about it. :)

HELP!!!

I'm on the hunt for a new fitness watch. I want one that tracks my distance and time. It can have a HRM on it, but that's not required. What's your experience with watches? Can anyone give a good recommendation? Right now, I'm looking at these two...

Hoping someone can help before I invest!
