I went for a run this morning and it was really bad. It found its place at the #2 spot for my worse run. I planned to do 8 miles and was really excited; the weather was beautiful and not humid. Since I don't have a device to track my miles while I'm running, I downloaded an APP to my phone to do the same thing. Only bad thing is that I would have to carry my phone with me on my run.
So I start my warm up, playing with the new app to get it up and running... It can't pick up GPS signal... ugh. So I call my hubby and he says I have to go in to my maps section and enable my GPS tracking. Okay, sounds easy enough. Went to my maps app and it doesn't give me the option to turn it on or off (well, I couldn't find it at least). At this point, I'm already half mile in and don't plan to walk back to put my phone away, so I have to carry it with me. I put it in it's little holder and off I go... Then the phone decides to fall out of the case just a few steps in. Really?!? So I try again, same thing happens. Okay, I guess I am literally carrying the phone the rest of the way.
I'm running and start to feel completely exhausted and out of breath, to the point I feel I need to sit down. I had run less than .2 miles. WHAT?!? This has only happened once before, the very first time I tried to do a morning run. I rest for a bit and try to push through. Around mile 2, I start to feel dizzy and lightheaded. That's not a good sign so I figured it was time to head back. The 8 miles wasn't going to happen today. I wound up walking back most of the way because I didn't want to over do it.
Needless to say, it was a really frustrating run (/walk). I really think it's because I am not properly nourished for a morning run. I need to do some research. Do I eat/drink anything before? What if it's right after I wake up that I'm doing my run?
On a brighter note, I'm signing up for two 5K's in September and still on the hunt for a 10K for the month of October.
If anyone has nutrition advice, let me know!

Warning: Grahpic Images
Last week I had these crazy bumps on my arm and a few on my neck. I thought they were an allergic reaction to an oil I had used. I've had allergic reactions before and they usually go away in a few days. This one was different. It got progressively worse, and then it started itching :( I figured I would give it a few more days, and if it didn't go away, I'd check in with the doctor. So, here they are - two pictures... warning, they're really gross (and I wore long sleeves while I had them to cover it up).
I checked in with my sister because she is around kids ALL the time and sees all kinds of crazy stuff. I sent her the first picture and she said it looked like a chicken wing. LOL. It really was as textured as it looks. Even worse actually. She wasn't sure exactly what it was.
Next, I was showing a few people at work, and one lady told me she thought it was poison ivy. I told her I hadn't been in any weeds/grass/etc. and she said her dad got in air-born. She said he exfoliated every day and because his pores were open, he was able to contract it through the air. Crazy? Yes. Unheard of? Apparently not...
So it didn't go away and I ventured to get some professional advice. She said while she had never seen the bumps so small, it appeared to be poison ivy/oak. FABULOUS! I told her I hadn't been in any weeds/grass/etc. and she asked if I had been anywhere where I could have gotten it through the air. I said the only place I could think of is when I run at the park. She said my pores would have been open and if it was in the air, that's where I would have gotten it. I still think it sounds crazy, but I guess it can happen.
Any ideas on how to prevent that? I love my runs at the park but really don't want to go through that again!

Spring Cleaning
I've been a little overwhelmed lately trying to keep up on life, and all of the things I enjoy and want to take time for. One thing I realized I need to do is a little spring cleaning on my blog list. There are some blogs I follow that have not been updated in quite some time. I don't know how to decide which other ones to stop following :( I have quite a collection; from running blogs, to personal blogs, to food blogs, to... well... all kinds of stuff... 82 total... yes that's right... 82. That's an unhealthy number! How many blogs do you follow? What are your favorites?

I Have A Dream...
I seriously had a dream last night that I was at a mall shopping for these...
You can check out the different shoes / colors here. I'm not sure if I've been reading too much about these lately or if I'm really interested in trying them out. Has anyone used these? If so, what do you think?

Hello Stranger!
Who me? Stranger? Well, okay - I admit, I have been in hiding the past week in my running. There was a lot going on, but that is still no room for excuses! My weekly goal was 35 miles... guess how many I got? Go on... guess... 27 (sigh). Maybe it's not so much the number of miles vs the fact that I only ran 3 days and I planned to run 5.
Friday was the only excused absense I gave myself. My bestie got married so I left work early and spent some time with her while she got ready.

It's a new week though - so I'll get back on track =o)

Interesting Fact
I have read a lot and talked to people that have said their Garmin or Nike+ have said they've gone farther in races than what the track should have been. I think I finally know why that is. I was reading the newest addition of Runner's World and I found this:
" USATF-certified race courses are measured along the "shortest possible route that a runner could take and not be disqualified". This ensures that an athlete who cuts every tangent perfectly, who doesn't take one unnecessary step, still will have run at least 26.2 miles... One researcher estimates that marathoners can wind up running .6 miles longer than 26.2 miles."

Versatile Blogger Award
I received this lovely blogger award...
There were just a few instructions to accepting the award:
1.Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award.2.Share 6 (or 7) things about yourself.
3.Pass this award to bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic for whatever reason!
4.Contact the bloggers you picked and let them know about the award.
Thank you Chloe for my wonderful award! Chloe always has great posts, so if you don’t already follow her, be sure to!
A few things about myself…
1. I have an unhealthy obsession fascination with office supplies. Mainly things that keep you organized (like calendars and compartments), but also fun paper clips, post it notes, etc.
2. When I eat M&M’s, I separate them by color, then place them alphabetically (Blue, Brown, Green, Orange, Red, Yellow) before I eat them.
(although these are not alphabetized)
3. Even though I don’t follow them, I claim to be a Dallas Cowboy’s Fan because when I was 16, I could kick butt on Madden when I was the Cowboys. Almost as bad as a chick picking a team for their color, right?!?
5. I’ve only been to two places out of the country, Canada (when I was younger and went camping with my family) and Jamaica (on our honeymoon)
6. I use to have a Peek-A-Poo. I named her Charmin after the toilet paper... fluffy and white
Now for the fun part! I get to award bloggers that I recently started discovered!
